Broadmoor places tremendous value on our local partners. This network of organizations provides a consistent avenue of service for the Broadmoor family. We want to be a church that extends the good news of the gospel to the ends of the earth...as well as right here in our own communities.

GO Local

Our Local Mission Partners meet a variety of needs in our community. Volunteer opportunities are available every day of the week and include:

  • Sports Ministry
Use sports as a vehicle to serve others. You can help with a sports camp, summer league, or play games with those in at-risk situations. Assistants are also needed to serve the sports ministries in other ways too, including providing refreshments, cleaning up the fields, etc.

  • Homeless Ministry
Serve the homeless around town. Opportunities include visiting with homeless, providing a meal for homeless ministries to serve, or creatively providing encouraging letters/gifts. Jackson Street Ministry meets each Wednesday at 6PM at the ROC to ride the Broadmoor shuttle. They visit with with the homeless, deliver sandwich bags, and pray with their homeless friends. The shuttle will return around 9:30PM. Email Warren Arnold for details at jwarrenarnold@gmail.com.

  • Special Needs Ministry
Assist with ministries that serve our special needs community in the area. You can be involved relationally through serving as a camp counselor or you can start a service project for a special needs ministry to assist in property maintenance, providing lunch, etc.

  • Medical
Work with Caring Hands Clinic, a free medical clinic in Gluckstadt, which serves patients who cannot afford proper healthcare. Meets every 3rd Thursday at Pinelake Madison. While medical volunteers are the primary need, they also look for volunteers to serve as intake counselors/evangelists, translators, security, etc. Email Michelle Hall for details at mhall@broadmoor.org.

  • Tutoring/Mentoring
You can tutor and/or mentor children this summer through our local partners. Get involved in a summer academic enrichment program, help out with a VBS, or partner with a ministry to mentor an older child.

  • Gardening
Serve in a local community garden to harvest crops for local ministries. You can also sign up to teach gardening to a group of kids and adults.

  • Book Buddy
The simple act of reading to a child once a week can make a huge impact in a child’s life.  Would you consider donating  an hour a week at Johnson Elementary as a Book Buddy? Join other Broadmoor members as we strategically invest in Johnson Elementary, a school positioned centrally in Jackson’s historic Georgetown neighborhood. By becoming a Book Buddy to a 3rd grade student or Mentoring a 4th or 5th grader, your investment in the life of one child can positively change the trajectory of his or her life and the community as a whole.

Opportunities available for all walks of life!
